Playful, Unique Interiors Concealed by a Sophisticated, Dark Facade
House Tour of Charred Peninsula Charm
Join us on our latest house tour as we explore a contemporary house design full of character on the Mornington Peninsula, Melbourne. Charred Peninsula Charm, the home of the creative behind Mynd Interiors and Grace Collective, offers unique interiors that are full of surprises. The house is on a sloped block across three levels, and it’s already clear from the outside that this is no ordinary home. The home’s facade is dark and moody, giving the impression of similar interiors. However, what lies inside may be different from what you expect. Charred Peninsula Charm is, in fact, full of colour.
Entering the front of the home, you’ll step away from the black facade to a contrasting white interior. The light interior versus dark exterior gives a memorable impression of the house, with skylights brightening the entrance.
One thing you’ll notice about this house tour is the ample space — plenty of room to move. From the primary bedroom to the ensuites, spaciousness abounds.
The bathroom features white tapware, a freestanding bath looking out over the trees, and an incredible double vanity running the whole length of the wall.
Continuing, you’ll find the study and laundry. The study is cosy, while the laundry is a generously sized room with many different textures and colours that still feel light and minimal. Of particular note are the laundry’s blue cabinetry and a small mosaic square, which adds a unique touch to the room.
Heading up to the middle level, you’ll encounter two bedrooms and a bathroom, complete with a beautiful skylight. The bathroom is a soft palette of pastel blues balanced by raw concrete finishes. You’ll also find a powder room, plenty of storage, and two more bedrooms, one of which is a lucky young girl’s ensuite. The ensuite replaces the pastel blue from the main bathroom with pink. Again, spaciousness is the dominant feature here.
To the right is a media retreat before you arrive at an awe-inspiring kitchen, living, and dining area with high ceilings and ample room. Natural light pours in from the floor-to-ceiling sheers, and the mantle has striking kit-kat tiles that tie back to the main bathroom. Everywhere you look, contemporary home decor adds pops of colour, from the organic vase to the gallery wall.
The kitchen is especially impressive, featuring a tremendous island benchtop and bar stools, a kit-kat tile splashback, and white tapware paired perfectly against the stone. Behind the panelling, you’ll find a butler’s pantry big enough to hold a party, with perfectly styled floating shelves.
Mynd Interiors and Grace Collective have created a home full of life, pops of colour, and unique decor pieces. Charred Peninsula Charm is a masterclass in design, and we hope you feel inspired to bring some of its vibrancy into your home!
