Are ABI Interiors’ door handles suitable for internal, external, or wet areas?
Yes, ABI Interiors’ door hardware is crafted from either solid brass or 314/316 stainless steel and finished with a highly durable PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) coating. This makes it suitable for interior use, wet areas (such as bathrooms), and light-duty exterior applications. We recommend consulting with your builder or our customer support team for coastal or highly exposed environments.
Do ABI Interiors’ door handles and hardware come in matching finishes?
ABI Interiors offers door hardware in most of our signature finishes, enabling you to coordinate your handles with tapware, cabinetry, and accessories throughout your home.
What is the difference between a passage set, a privacy set, and a dummy handle?
Passage Set: A handle set without a locking mechanism, ideal for internal doors where privacy or security isn’t required.
Privacy Set: Includes a locking function suitable for bathrooms and bedrooms.
Dummy Handle: A fixed handle used primarily for decorative purposes.
ABI Interiors offers each type in matching designs and finishes to ensure consistency across every door.
Are ABI Interiors' door handles compatible with standard Australian doors?
ABI Interiors’ door handles are designed to suit standard Australian door specifications. Most latch kits fit standard 54mm holes with a 60mm backset. Always check the product specifications or consult your installer to ensure compatibility, especially for retrofits or older doors.
Do I need a latch or lock mechanism with my handle set?
Yes, most handle sets require a separate latch or privacy lock mechanism, depending on their use. ABI Interiors offers complete latch and lock kits that match each handle collection, making it easy to purchase everything you need for a smooth installation.
Can I install ABI Interiors’ door hardware, or should I use a professional tradesperson?
ABI Interiors’ door hardware should be installed by a licensed tradesperson. Installation templates and fixings are included with most products to help streamline the process.
Do your door handles and hardware come with a warranty?
Yes, ABI Interiors provides warranties on all door hardware for residential installations. Most products include up to 7 years of structural warranty and 1–2 years of finish warranty, depending on the product and finish. For exact warranty details, please refer to the individual product pages. Entry door handles are covered by a 25-year structural warranty and 5-year finish warranty, while internal door handles include a 10-year structural warranty and 2-year finish warranty.
How to clean brass door hardware?
Regularly clean your door hardware with mild liquid detergent or soap and water. Do not use cream cleaners or bleach, as they are abrasive and can damage the product's finish.
How do I choose the right finish for my door hardware?
This is entirely a matter of personal preference. Our door hardware is available in a range of durable finishes, including brushed brass, brushed copper, brushed gunmetal, and stainless steel. We also offer stone materials, including travertine, Carrara marble, and concrete.
Are your handles sold in pairs?
Some of our front door handles are sold as a pair, including the Half Moon Entry Door Pulls. However, most of our door handles are sold individually.
What lock is compatible with your handles?
Please refer to our range of door locks and check the relevant product page to confirm compatibility with your chosen handle.
Is your door hardware suitable for metal or glass doors?
Most ABI door hardware is designed for use with timber doors. Some styles can also be installed on metal or aluminium doors, typically for single-sided installation only. In general, our hardware is not suitable for direct installation into glass doors unless otherwise specified.
Our Modi Adjustable and Imes Half Moon Entry Door Pulls are suitable for double-sided installation on both metal and glass doors. Please note, these products cannot be installed single-sided on glass doors. When installing on metal doors, ensure the metal is sufficiently thick to securely hold the required fixings.
ABI travertine door pulls are suitable for single-sided installation on metal doors only.
Always refer to the individual product specifications before purchasing, and we recommend consulting a qualified installer to ensure suitability and correct installation.
