Tiles are an important commodity in the interior design space. They can be used to add a distinctive touch to walls and floors throughout the home.

They should be durable, aesthetically pleasing, and come in a range of colours, sizes, styles, and textures.

Our Tiles Range

ABI Interiors offers a wide range of boutique tiles that blend artisanal aesthetics with robust materials, including ceramic, porcelain, stone, and handmade clay.

Our expansive collection includes small and large-format, handmade Zellige, and mosaic tiles. We offer floor and wall tiles for the kitchen, bathroom, and laundry. We have small-format tiles designed for walls and splashbacks and large and small-format tiles for floor and wall applications.

All our tiles are crafted to withstand daily use while preserving aesthetic longevity.

Tiles FAQs

What is a rectified edge?

A rectified edge is mechanically finished to ensure all sides are precisely the same size, resulting in a tile with uniform dimensions. This allows for a narrow grout joint, giving the floor the appearance of a single, continuous tiled surface. As a result, less grout is required for installation.

What is the difference between a natural edge and an organic edge?

A natural edge is an unfinished, cushioned, or bevelled edge that creates a handmade look. An organic edge is a raw, often irregular edge that purposefully mimics natural materials for more of an imperfect look.

How do I determine which tiles are best for my project?

Selecting your tiles is often determined by the size of your space, personal preference, and taste. However, here are a few tips:

  1. Large-format tiles have a minimal appearance, fewer grout lines, low maintenance, and easy installation, making them a popular choice in larger spaces. They are typically available in sizes 300x600mm, 600x600mm, and 1200x600mm.
  2. Smaller format tiles can achieve a visually creative look and are ideal for covering small areas such as splashbacks, curved surfaces, and bathroom areas. These are typically tiles in sizes 480mm up to a larger 250x60mm and are available in various shapes.

What is a slip rating?

Ensuring safety in all environments is paramount, and determining a tile's suitability for its intended application is made easier through slip resistance ratings. Tile slip ratings are a collection of tests used to assess the slip resistance of a tile’s surface. The most common slip resistance tests include:

Pendulum Test: Assesses the friction a floor surface offers when a foot comes into contact with it. Pendulum classifications range from P0 to P5. The higher the number, the lower the risk of slipping.

P1Very High

P3Moderate
P4Low
P5Very Low

Oil-wet ramp test: Assesses the degree of slip resistance when coming in contact with a lubricated angled surface. Resistance values range from R9 to R13. The higher the number, the lower the risk of slipping.

R10Very High

How do I determine whether my tiles can be used internally or externally?

The slip rating of your tile determines whether it can be used indoors or outdoors. Lower ratings (P0-P3 or R9-R10) are generally better suited for indoor spaces, while higher ratings (P4-P5 or R11-R13) are ideal for outdoor spaces and pool areas. This information can be found in the specifications section of each tile listing.

How do I determine if my tiles can be used on the floor or wall?

Most tiles can be used on a wall; however, some tiles, like mosaics, ceramics, and our handmade clay range, are wall-mounted only. To determine whether or not a tile is suitable for your floor, we recommend referring to the slip rating for further guidance.
